The Creative and Fabulous - November 8, 2009

Today's guest interview is Adrienne of Mustard Seed Collective.   If you have been reading CL Journal (and I hope you have), you have seen her site mentioned.  Adrienne's blog is one of my guilty pleasures and I look forward to reading her posts.  What caught my attention and curiosity was the name "Mustard Seed Collective".  I could tell you how she came up with the name; but it would be better for you to go to her site and check it out.  You will not be disappointed.  Adrienne talks interior design, art, and fashion.  Let me tell you, you have to check out her personal design style.  She's one of the reasons I finally got the urge to complete the redecorating of my home (another blog favorite who I hope to have as a guest interview next week was the other reason).

Adrienne has said that she wished that she had went to school for  interior design.  Well I can tell her this much, she could have fooled me!  Which goes to show, when you are creative and you have a passion for something, the end result reveals just how much you love what you do.

Introduce yourself your name, (or nickname) and the name of your blog.
Hi everyone!  My name is Adrienne (as in Yo, Adrienne! Rocky-style) and my blog is Mustard Seed Collective.
When did you debut?
Mustard Seed Collective came on the scene in March of this year.
What inspired you to start a blog?
I was looking up something interior design-related on Google and one of the search results was a blog and I clicked on it and spent about half an hour reading through the posts.  And then I saw in the upper right corner “Create Blog”.  And I did (it was free (he he) and I love to write, so why not?!)  Before that, blogging had never crossed my mind.
What's the best part about blogging?
The challenge.  Blogging forces you to be creative and interesting.  It’s easy to be serious, but not so easy to engage an audience.  Also, meeting people with the same interests (like yourself) is a bonus.  Even though we all have our own lives, even the people closest to us may not share the same hobbies, creativity, or want to hear the latest word on the street, so blogging allows you to find that community you identify with.
What's the worst?
The challenge (did I already say that)?  It’s not so easy coming up with posts, especially if you blog daily.
What did you wish you knew about blogging that you feel most people should know?
That bloggers are putting themselves out there regardless of topic, and negativity for no good reason, is just that… no good.  If you don’t like what people post, keep it moving!  There's something else out there for you.   Also, we have to be careful of the way we read comments and sometimes it’s best to read something a second time because we may have taken it wrong the first time.  One more thing I wish I knew is HTML.  I wish I knew all the little tricks to personalize a blog when I first started.
If there were a blogger convention that you were to attend, whom would you absolutely have to meet?
You, Tam Styles of Get It Girl Style (she was the first person to follow my blog), Melinda of Get Togetha, Jeanine of AphroChic (I’m an entrepreneur in the making and her new line of décor is inspiring), Alexia of Decadence Design , Ericka of Jubella, and so many, many more.  There are too many to possibly name!
Name your bookmarked favorites.

… So many blogs, so little time!

Thanks to Adrienne for her interview!  Til next week...

"Get creative and stay fabulous!"

You already know I love Adrienne's blog! She makes me hate my home when she posts beautiful pics of what my house SHOULD look like!
